UK Architectural Hardware Brand, project cover

The challenge

The client operates a catalogue of more than 8,000 products across retail, trade and a wider stockist network.

The existing ecommerce setup needed to connect with a legacy ERP system responsible for product data, stock, customer pricing and orders. The challenge was to create a modern Shopify experience without forcing the business to replace the operational systems already running behind it.

What we built

We designed and developed a custom Shopify Plus store around the scale and complexity of the catalogue.

Product architecture, collection filtering and product pages were reworked to make thousands of products easier to navigate across categories, styles, finishes and applications.

A fully custom integration was then built between Shopify and the client’s legacy ERP software. Data is pushed and pulled between both systems, allowing the ERP to remain the operational source of truth while Shopify handles the customer-facing experience.

The integration supports:

  • Product information
  • Live stock availability
  • Expected restock dates
  • Customer account data
  • Trade pricing
  • Order information

Retail and B2B in one system

The platform supports both retail and approved trade customers through one connected storefront.

Logged-in trade buyers can access customer-specific pricing, quantity breaks and a purchasing journey designed around larger and repeat orders.

Live stock and availability data is also surfaced directly on product pages, giving customers a clearer view of what is available and when unavailable products are expected to return.

A custom retailer journey connects individual products with approved external stockists, helping customers find the most relevant route to purchase.

The outcome

The result is a connected Shopify Plus platform serving retail customers, trade buyers and retail partners across more than 8,000 products.

Rather than operating as a standalone storefront, Shopify now acts as the customer-facing layer of a wider ecommerce system, with live data moving between the store and the client’s existing ERP.
